In-Depth Review of
FarmersOnly

With the “City Just Don’t Get It” motto, FarmersOnly makes it clear who its audience is—singles in the country. That means singles that live in rural towns and are interested in dating like-minded singles. FarmersOnly really blew up when the site’s 2007 YouTube commercial became a funny viral video and spread throughout the country. Now, with over 5 million members, the dating site has become a legitimate place for singles living in the countryside to find love.

When we say singles in the country, we mean ranchers, farmers, and other people that enjoy the outdoor, rural lifestyle. These are singles that have properties that are far away from other houses and now rely on internet dating to meet other rural singles. It can be especially difficult to meet rural singles if you work long days and don’t socialize as much as city folks. FarmersOnly knows this and they’ve created a platform to bring farmers and like-minded people together.

Signing Up for FarmersOnly

To begin registration, go to the Android app or website and then type in your email address, zip or postcode, age, who you are, and what you’re looking for (woman looking for a man, man looking for a woman, man looking for a man, or woman looking for a woman). The site will then automatically generate a username and password for you. If you don’t like the one they give you, it can be changed later on.

All accounts are verified via SMS message or email address. This should give you peace of mind knowing profiles are authenticated and legit. However, there have been reports of fake profiles and scammers, so always proceed with caution. You can also link your account with Facebook and have your profile photos pulled from there if that’s easier for you. All in all, sign-up is quick and easy on FarmersOnly and you can start browsing singles in your area in just a few minutes.

Member Structure

FarmersOnly is one of the most popular rural dating apps in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom with around 5 million members. There are also an estimated 100,000 new sign-ups per month, which means you will find new matches often. The majority of members are between the ages of 25 and 35, with men making up most of the user base.

Most members of FarmersOnly are interested in going on dates that lead to long-term relationships and eventually marriage. These people are at the age at which they’re ready to settle down and start a family. You won’t find many members that are interested in casual dates or short-term flings. FarmersOnly is for rural singles that want to meet other rural singles, and not for city folks that want to meet rural singles.

Matching Process

There’s not much of a matching process in terms of matching you based on a personality test or compatibility. But you can search and browse profiles on your own and click on profiles to view more information. Profiles on FarmersOnly are filled with plenty of details about a person so you can decide whether or not they might make the right match.

We found that most members write a comprehensive bio that tells you everything you need to know about their personality, interests, hobbies, and preferences. On top of that, every member needs to fill out basic information such as age, Zodiac sign, location, the type of relationship they’re interested in, height, body type, religion, ethnicity, marital status, and more. Plus, their profile tells you the type of person they’re interested in (age, height, preferred body type, etc.).

FarmersOnly also has a “Discover” area that is sort of like Tinder’s roulette-style matching system. Based on location, they’ll show photos of members one-by-one and you can select the thumbs up or thumbs down icon. Once you and another member have mutually liked each other, a match is made and you can start chatting with each other.

Contact Options

FarmersOnly doesn’t try to complicate things when it comes to communicating with other members. Once you’ve read through someone’s profile, seen their photos, and decided you want to make contact, you only have two options—send them a flirt or a message. The former is free for every member, whereas messaging is a premium feature. You can also add someone to your favorites list if you want to come back to their profile later.

There’s also the texting service called FarmPhone, which sends all your FarmersOnly messages to your phone as a text message. This is a premium service and allows you to take advantage of some of FarmersOnly’s features on your phone, such as replying to messages or blocking a member.

FarmersOnly App

The FarmersOnly app is only available for Android devices and it includes all the same features as the website. If you have an Apple device, the website is mobile optimized so you can still use it the same way you would the desktop version. For now, it doesn’t seem like FarmsOnly has any plans to create an iOS application.

Conclusion

FarmersOnly has a large user base of cowboys, cowgirls, farmers, ranchers, fishermen, hunters, and the like. If you fall under that category and are looking for someone that shares your same lifestyle, why not give FarmersOnly a try? You can sign up for free quickly, the platform is easy to navigate, and you can search for singles for free. It’s only when you want to make contact that you need to sign up for the premium service. But you can decide that later after you’ve sent flirts and tested out the waters.
