In-Depth Review of
ChristianCupid

When enough competition for a niche on dating sites exists in the wide world of online dating, you have to wonder if it’s even a niche anymore. Such is the case with ChristianCupid, a subset of Cupid Media and another matchmaking service that tries its hand at targeting the ever-competitive Christian demographic for online dating.

ChristianCupid, in that regard, enters late to the game. However, to make up for lost time it implements some tried-and-true features of the Christian dating world, catering its design exclusively to that market of long-term, romantic connections and fellowship-based companionship. However, even with the ability to avoid the mistakes of the other popular Christian dating sites, there’s still a lot of catch-up to be done to stay competitive in the modern market.

With that in mind, ChristianCupid has great backing by Cupid Media and a fresh, modern, makeover – but is it enough to compete with the heavy-hitters? Read our review to find out!

Signing Up for ChristianCupid

The sign-up process for ChristianCupid is simple and straightforward. You provide your gender, date of birth, email address, and password – and then select your faith or denomination of Christianity. After that, some questions are offered to expand on that faith and specify the type of relationship you are looking for (e.g., friendship, dating, long-term commitment).

Finally, you indicate whether you want to be a paying member or not. That’s an important distinction but also not necessary right at the beginning to uncover the basic features of the site and start exploring. After that, you complete a short (or lengthy) quiz to help ChristianCupid find other singles who share your faith and interests. This quiz is designed to emphasize the role Christianity plays in your own life to better match you with members of a similar worldview.

Member Structure

ChristianCupid has a diverse membership base but not a terribly large one. At only about 60,000 members worldwide and 16,000 across the US, it is definitely among the smaller sites for online dating and even within the Christian niche. That being said, there are benefits of smaller sites – namely security, as there are less spam accounts, a more involved userbase, and a greater likelihood of the people on the site being on there for the right reasons.

To break down that 60,000 a little further, it’s divided into roughly 60% females and 40% males. Weekly, there is a very active base from the members present and that’s further emphasized by ChristianCupid’s goal of doubling not only as a dating service for Christians, but as a place for fellowship for their collective worship.

Something else to note about ChristianCupid’s member base is that although the vast majority of members are between 35 and 44 (with a range spanning 18 to 55+) and looking for a life partner or long-term romantic connection, some are looking for spiritual guidance. As many as come on the site to find love, many also come seeking friendship, fellowship, and someone to talk about beliefs with. In that way, ChristianCupid is a welcoming community for Christian singles and devout Chrisitians as a whole.

Matching Process

At its core, the matchmaking process on ChristianCupid is algorithmic-based and at the start of your romantic journey, it uses the answers from the short entry quiz to get you going. This quiz helps ChristianCupid find other singles who share your faith and interests, and really gets the ball rolling.

That being said, this is also where the difference between free and premium memberships comes into play. No matter what connection exists on ChristianCupid, at least one of the members has to be a paying member. Free members can send out messages, ping “interest”, or add paid members to their “favorites” list at their leisure, but any response has to come from a paying member, and vice versa.

Beyond the recommendations the site offers to a user’s homepage, there is also the opportunity to search for potential matches. This isn’t necessarily location-based, but is rather relegated to a few chosen filters of who you’re looking for in a romantic partner.

Contact Options

ChristianCupid provides several ways to communicate with other members, but again, those communication methods are mostly restricted to paid accounts. With a paid account, you can send messages, chat, comment on pictures, refine search categories with unique tags, or call other users.

Another benefit for contact is opening the door from your end. If you verify your Gold or Platinum account, you’ll boost your chances of showing up on member searches, increasing overall visibility on the site. Using profile verification, the plethora of other tools, and the bonus of getting ads removed by purchasing a paid membership makes ChristianCupid one of the sites where it pays to play. That being said, the cost of signing up for ChristianCupid is also relatively low when compared to many other services, making that investment a little easier to wrap your head around.

ChristianCupid App

ChristianCupid has a mobile app that is currently only available on Android devices and Google Play. iOS users will be relegated to the browser version which still allows them to keep up with their profile and messages, but is in no way as seamless or effective as the actual app.

The app, on the other hand, has all the same features and benefits of the website version. A paid member has far more flexibility of use, but a free member can still check it out and explore – albeit with a lot of ads in the process.

Conclusion

ChristianCupid has a clear target audience and, from marketing to design, caters to that audience. The Christian demographic may be somewhat of an oversaturated market when it comes to online dating, but that doesn’t mean new services can’t enter the mix. ChristianCupid proves that, even among the heavy-hitters, there’s still a chance to grab a piece of the market and help Christian singles find love.

ChristianCupid differentiates itself by not only being an avenue for romantic connection, but by branding itself as a community for Christian hopefuls, who seek friendship, fellowship, and a new forum for expressing their faith. If you’re a Christian looking for a dating site that isn’t bloated with fake users and an intimidating amount of options, ChristianCupid could be the right place for you to find love, or simply a friend who shares in your values and faith.
